Look at you with your woeful life
Knee deep in gloom and wading through strife.
Debts ‘round your neck weighing you down
Your face locked into a permanent frown,
Clinging to drink as if it’s your saviour
Yet all it does is control your behaviour.
Hunched in a pub and thinking of me,
I showed you the way but you never did see,
Now you do but alas it’s too late
So you sit there in your maudlin state
Neglecting your girlfriend back at home
Regretful thoughts encouraged to roam.
You’re stuck in the past now, can’t move on,
Trapped in a life that’s a sham and a con.
You did me a favour setting me free
As I’m really enjoying being me.
Inside I’m Dying
Published January 15, 2015 by naomirettigInside I’m dying,
Full of death and decay;
I’ve wandered through life
And now I’ve lost my way.
Inside I’m dying,
Painful and slow;
From the depths of despair
I’ve now sunken so low.
Inside I’m dying,
Don’t want to live anymore,
Need to turn off the lights
And close tight the door.
Illness
Published January 15, 2015 by naomirettigBlood pumping
Head thumping
Heart stopping
Pill popping
Over eating
Over heating
Night sweating
Day fretting
Skin itching
Leg twitching
Ankle throbbing
Freedom robbing
Metal tasting
Life wasting
Need to sleep
Very deep
Stop the pain
Before insane
I would be there
Published January 15, 2015 by naomirettigI would be there
When you need me,
I would be there
When you want me,
I would be there
To laugh with you,
I would be there
To hold you close,
I would be there
To cry into,
I would be there
To comfort you,
I would be there
To love you,
I would be there
To protect you,
I would be there
Forever.
I Need
Published January 15, 2015 by naomirettig
I need to smell you. Sweat, alcohol, deodorant. Now.
I need to see you. Eyes, lips, nostrils. Always.
I need to touch you. Caress you, hold you. Forever.
I need to feel you. Inside of me, deep, as one.
I need to connect my mind with yours. For eternity.
I need to laugh with you, bath with you, be half of you.
I need to live with you, dream with you, die with you.
I need.
Help the Homeless
Published January 15, 2015 by naomirettigHelp the homeless
They’re not front page news,
Don’t give them money
As they’ll spend it on booze.
Give them some food
Like a nice Cornish pasty,
Check they’re not vegetarian
Or they might turn nasty.
A tartan blanket or a hand held fan,
A selection of photos of Duran Duran,
A squeaky toy for the dog by their side,
With a sorrowful look like his mum’s just died,
Some soap on a rope, so they can smell nice,
Lavender or rose but not edelweiss,
A tambourine so that they can busk,
Some crunchy ryvitas
Or a banana rusk.
A pretty hat for collecting their cash,
Something homemade though
Nothing too flash.
So help the homeless when out one day
Then go and put your feet up
With a box of milk tray.
Frailty
Published January 15, 2015 by naomirettig
I am so vulnerable and fragile
If you cast me aside
I know I would break.
You are my oxygen
That stops me suffocating
In this torpid world.
Without you I am hollow,
Just a shell of a human,
Emotionally withdrawn.
With you I feel complete
And my whole sense of being
Just clicks into place.
You are the blood
That keeps me alive.
For You
Published January 14, 2015 by naomirettigFor you I would catch a falling star
While swimming a lake of chocolate tar,
A lake as deep as an ocean blue
Because my love for you is true.
For you I would slice the silver moon
While climbing a hill in the middle of June,
A hill as high as Mount Everest
Because you are the very best.
For you I would light the midnight sky
While floating on a cloud as I pass by,
A cloud as frothy as cappuccino coffee
Because you’re yummier than Thorntons toffee.
For you I would dig for diamonds and jewels
While skating on ice and fending off ghouls,
Ice sparklingly clear as first morning dew
Simply because I love you.
Falling For You
Published January 14, 2015 by naomirettigI’m falling for you
In a wonderful way,
Thinking of you
Keeps me smiling all day.
I’m falling for you
With your warmth and your charms,
Melting my heart
When I’m safe in your arms.
I’m falling for you
And it feels so right,
Crossing my fingers
For a future so bright.
Fascination
Published January 14, 2015 by naomirettigYou’re my hallucination,
My masturbation,
My deepest desire in here.
The fantasy’s perfectly clear,
My own Adonis,
Intelligent and honest.
To meet would shatter the dream,
Life’s not what it seems,
You’re far too special for me.
I’m fat and ugly you’ll see,
Insecure and scarred,
Unable to drop my guard.
So it’s best to stay apart,
Keep guarding my heart,
Forever my fascination.
